AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT
This is the "masters degree" of aviation certificates. This is your final step in achieving the highest certificate that the F.A.A. has to offer. Most corporations, and all airlines, require, at some point, for you to have your A.T.P in order to work for them. The ATP allows you to act as pilot-in-command under FAR part121 for a domestic, flag carrier or for commercial operations of large aircraft, act as PIC under FAR part 135 passenger-carrying operations of airplanes having seating capacity of 10 seats or more, instruct other pilots in air transportation service in aircraft of the category, class, and type for which you are rated.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT
You must be:
- 23 years old.
- have a high school graduate.
- hold a first class medical.
- pass a written test with a score of 70% or better.
Must have:
- 1500 hours total time with at least. - 250 hours Pilot in command time.
- 500 hours of cross-country time.
- 100 hours of night time.
- 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time, at least 50 hours of which were in actual flight.
When you have met these requirements, you are ready for your ATP checkride.
